Bi Wei (pronounced be way) Liang-Tronolone was born in Guangzhou, China. Her Impressionist scenes and lush garden paintings create a alluring and peaceful vision of nature. Raised in a family of artists, her father, Yon Tai Liang a well known wood cut artist and her mother, Lo Mo Tuen a Classical music editor. Her formal art education began at the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Art where she earned a Bachelor's Degree in Fine Art; studying under a number of Chinese masters. In 1982, Bi Wei came to the United States to continue her studies in Boston; at the Massachusetts College of Art. In 1985 she graduated with Masters degree and the Alumni Award for leadership in the field of visual arts.
Bi Wei has participated in many group and solo exhibitions both nationally and internationally. Her Impressionist oil paintings have also been collected by major corporations, such as the Marriott Hotels and St. Regis Hotel; as well as the Taccoma Museum of Art. In the year 2000, she and her family moved to Southern California to pursue a career in animation background painting. Working for Walt Disney Animation, Universal Animation Studio and Marvel Studios. She received the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Emmy Award, for her work on Curious George.
